Packing Guide

Packing Guide

Moving day can be a bear. When you've decided to up root your life and take off to a new city, so many things come to mind. You wonder if you've packed the dishes correctly. You wonder if you left anything under the sink. You might even check the empty house two or three times before you're convince. So, to help you out a little bit, here is a guide to help make the day a little more organized and a lot less stressful.

Tip 1– Work One Room At A Time

When you are running around the house and bouncing from room to room, you're probably going to forget some of the hiding places and secret compartments that you've been storing unmentionables for the last couple of years. Start in one room and work your way through the house. If you are living in a two–story house, work on the second floor first. You'll be glad when you've finished and you don't have to walk up and down those stairs every five minutes.

Tip 2– Separate The Things You Are Going To Need Immediately

When you're moving into a new home, one thing that can completely overwhelm you would be simply trying to find your toothbrush. When you separate the things you are going to need immediately, you'll be more likely to take a breath and not be so stressed out. If you're using a company to help you move, try to fit all of the things you are going to need immediately into your own car.

Tip 3– Drain All Of The Oil And Gasoline From Your Power Tools

This is extremely important. If your power tools leak in the moving truck they could damage sentimental possessions. When you drain them be sure to tape up the gas caps. Nothing could be more annoying than opening your moving truck and having gasoline all over your clothes, dishes and furniture.

Packing is something that everybody dreads, but hopefully you'll stay ahead of the game with these three tips. Most of the things we acquire over the years are dear to us. Nobody wants to break the lamp that their grandmother gave to them. Secure everything so it's not going to fall or slide in the back of the truck and do a thorough walkthrough of your empty house before you leave it for the last time.
